Artist's Profile
Call me CN. I live in Rochester, New York.
Killer whale....a symbol of strength and determination
Having had the second child and tripped over countless useless toys later, I decided to give my son the Christmas present he had never been given before. No, it wasn't a toy you can get from Toys "R" Us. It wasn't a baseball bat from Dick's Sporting Goods either. If you asked Ryan, he will tell you how much he loves animals and marine life. Bingo, one day I decided to paint him murals. Forget about those generic wall papers and borders from your big box hardware store. Over the summer, Ryan had the opportunity to see lots of animals, dolphins, whales, birds, and all sorts of other creatures. Wow, I could capture his imagination and put it right on the walls, I thought.
Although I am willing to paint you any subject of your choice, my best work can be seen in nature scenes, marine life and animals. My background in watercolor and Chinese painting has served me well in these natural subject matter.
Have you ever wondered what media I used to paint my murals? They are called paint, the ubiquitous paint! There are no special protective coatings required. I use standard washable wall paint. Removing a mural is as easy as painting over it.
What can I do for you?
Tell me about the kinds of visuals and scenes that make you smile. Better yet, if you have pictures that you like, show me. I will compose sketches and we will work from there.
If you represent a doctors' office, dentist's office or restaurant, murals are a great way to decorate your place of business especially the lobby.
Looking for a unique gift for someone who has everything? Give them the gift of a lifetime!
How much does it cost?
Depending on the complexity and size of a mural, the cost of a custom mural for a wall typically ranges anywhere from $200 to $1000. (Full wall scenes like those depicted here are in the $500 range.)
Now, let's do the math. You can easily blow $150 to $250 on paint alone to create faux effects. Say you use 3 different colors to create faux effects above the chair rail and straight paint below the chair rail. Now, that's four cans of paint. On top of those colors, you will also need a $40/gallon can of glazing compound. That's assuming you do the faux painting work yourself. You do the math. Think about getting a custom mural job done for not much more than faux painting.
Have a good cause?
If you represent a charitable not-for-profit organization, located in the Rochester, New York area , I would be glad to consider contributing my effort for a good cause. Each year, I will volunteer a certain number of murals to local charitable groups.
Putting them all together...... and see the smile on their faces! It's all worth it.
Coral colony...... teeming with marine life of wondrous colors. Wait, notice the silhouette of a clown fish next to the anemone at the lower left corner? If requested, I can also let you participate in painting your mural! In this case, my kids were eagerly waiting their turns.
See the previously missing Nemo? Now you found him. The kids demonstrated what great artists they were. Not really! I let them have a few strokes and I fixed them up.
My son won't trade dolphins for anything.
Don't let the deep dark base color turn you off. Notice the contrast a dark background creates with the solid wood dresser and the mural?
Another example of marine life
This is a mural I did for the in-laws. Their new winter home was far from their Adirondack retirement retreat. Now they can reminisce about campfires and fishing stories with a fall lake scene from their lakefront log home in the Adirondacks.
